 (Chief Shepherding Officer) Meet Fred Ackerman: Founder and Chief Shepherding Officer. There's speculation that maybe it's because he read too many Tintin comic books as a kid, but, whatever the reason, the travel bug took hold early on in his life and didn't let go. Fred has not only traveled six continents, he has lived in four of them, giving him a truly global perspective, a local's knowledge of many diverse regions, and a wonderfully long list of exciting destinations he plans to bring Black Sheep Adventures guests. An MIT engineering graduate, Fred was a busy young professional with no time to plan vacations, but with a strong desire to get out there and explore. After traveling with a few adventure tour operators, Fred quickly realized that he'd wanted to be out seeing the world - and to share his passion with others. Leaving a promising management consulting career during the height of the Internet boom, Fred joined one of the industry's largest active tour operators, creating and leading trips throughout the US and Europe - and hasn't looked back since! Discovering he had a penchant for designing and leading trip-of-a-lifetime adventures, Fred went on to create Black Sheep Adventures. |
