Day 1: Sunday, August 5 - Welcome to Utah (52 miles - 3,300' gain & 3,250' loss)
You’ve booked the trip, trained hard, and have taken time off of work. Meet the Black Sheep team this morning and relax - we’ve got you covered this week. Rendezvousing in Las Vegas, we’ll transfer to St. George, Utah and get the riding underway. For our inaugural spin, we set out around Snow Canyon State Park and take in the red rock splendor that rings this desert playground. Tonight we gather for a fabulous welcome dinner and raise a glass to what’s to come. It’s going to be one incredible week.

Day 2: Monday, August 6 - Stage 1 and Riding Zion National Park (74 miles - 3,850' gain & 2,950' loss)
An exciting day awaits our flock of Black Sheep riders and we’ll kick things off with a visit to the Tour of Utah race venue to catch Stage 1 festivities. As the event’s exclusive tour operator, we’ll garner VIP access and get up close for when the gun goes off. Then it’s time to saddle up ourselves on a point to point route that courses into the heart of Zion National Park. Experience the splendor of one of the US’ most cherished parks as you pedal along the Virgin River beneath massive sandstone cliffs. Tonight, enjoy lodging and cuisine in small-town Springdale before getting a good night’s rest. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 3: Tuesday, August 7 - Cedar Breaks National Monument and the Stage 2 finish (62 miles - 2,000' gain & 5,900' loss)
While the gun goes off today for Stage 2 of the Tour of Utah, taking racers on a circuit around Cedar City, we’ll set out in our own mini-peloton with our sights on the same finish. The Black Sheep route takes us into the high elevation recesses of Brian Head where we’ll ride past the hoodoo spires of Cedar Breaks National Monument. A thrilling descent delivers our flock into Cedar City, where you’ll have time to absorb the high energy atmosphere, stroll the finish line festival, and cheer on your favorite pros as they ramp it up for the final sprint. A final van transfer brings us to our accommodations near Bryce Canyon, where you’re free to unwind and enjoy the evening independently. Meals included: Breakfast & Lunch
Day 4: Wednesday, August 8 - Bryce Canyon to Capitol Reef National Park (102 miles - 8,850' gain & 9,700' loss)
We’ve got an epic ride to digest today that takes us from one impressive National Park to another. The journey begins in Bryce Canyon and descends into the confines of Escalante. You’ll want to keep your fuels topped off today as it’s a hefty climb along the famed Highway 12 "A Journey Through Time Scenic Byway". Our ride concludes will a much-anticipated descent through the small ranching community of Grover into Torrey, situated at the entrance to Capitol Reef National Park. Take a soak in the hotel pool and rejuvenate those legs after a day of earning your fair share of sweat equity, you certainly deserve it. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 5: Thursday, August 9 - Capitol Reef National Park (25 miles - 1,350' gain & 2,750' loss)
We have all the time we need today as we won’t be rushed to join the ProTour. You can take the liberty to sleep in this morning before joining your guides for a short hike in Capitol Reef; a great opportunity to stretch out the legs and get the blood flowing after yesterday’s feat. Afterward, we enjoy lunch and then set off on a short out and back ride along Scenic Drive, the one arteries that cuts into the heart of Capitol Reef. Witness expanses of limitless sky and desert rock on this rolling tour that gives a glimpse into what life must have been like millions of years ago. Relax in the van this afternoon on our transfer north into Heber City, home for the next two nights. You’ll have the evening free yet again to dine independently and do as you see fit. Rest up, another stunner awaits tomorrow.

Day 6: Friday, August 10 - Cycling Alpine Loop (40 miles - 4,100' gain & loss)
We hope you’re ready for another stunning day spent in the saddle. Cycling the Alpine Loop may be one of Utah’s shorter mileage classics, but it makes up for it in grandeur and elevation. Filled with ascents and descents amongst groves of quaking aspen and evergreens, you’ll tackle this high-elevation journey that cuts through the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forests and circumnavigates Mt Timpanogos. This afternoon, perhaps you’d consider opting for a massage to aid in the recovery of those well-worked muscles or simply entertain taking some time to stretch and relax. This evening, we reconvene to rehydrate and refuel at our team dinner and to discuss tomorrow’s reunion with the ProTour action. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 7: Saturday, August 11 - The Ultimate Challenge (TBD - 2017 had 64 miles and 7,600' gain)
We reunite ourselves with the penultimate stage of the Tour of Utah and what is sure to be a phenomenal day of competition. Today we embark on the same route that the pros will tackle, an event shared with hundreds of others in L’etape fashion, known as the Ultimate Challenge. This route will traverse out to Provo Canyon before finishing with a civil climb up Little Cottonwood Canyon. What our route lacks for in distance is made up for in grade and mimics the length and steepness of the Alp D’ Huez, just without all those pesky switchbacks. Summiting at Snowbird after the 8.5 mile climb, enjoy a picnic lunch and watch the pros emerge from the pain cave as they cross the finish line. Coast back down Little Cottonwood before transferring to our hotel in Park City. Reuniting this evening as a group, we’ll enjoy our farewell dinner together and recollect the awesome times shared over the last week.

Day 8: Sunday, August 12 - The Great Crescendo (23 miles - 1,200' gain & loss)
Waking up in Park City, we’ll set out one last time for a farewell circuit that traverses the Wasatch Back. The energy will be all-time this afternoon as folks from all over descend upon the town to experience the Tour of Utah excitement at the conclusion of a week spent duking it out across the great state of Utah. We’ll stick around and see who takes the stage and GC before blowing out the candle on this exclusive and action-packed cycling holiday.
